INPEX Geothermal Development Co., Ltd., a subsidiary established for geothermal business activities, is participating in the Muara Laboh Geothermal Power Generation Project in the Muara Laboh geothermal block located in South Solok County, West Sumatra in the Republic of Indonesia. The project is operated by PT Supreme Energy Muara Laboh, a private geothermal company, in conjunction with INPEX and Sumitomo Corporation and commenced operations in December 2019. PT Supreme Energy Muara Laboh is currently operating the project at a rated output of approximately 85 megawatts, equivalent to the annual usage of about 420,000 households on the island of Sumatra. The plan for this project is to market electricity generated by geothermal energy to PT PLN (Persero), the state-owned power company in Indonesia for 30 years from the start of operations. A project expansion plan is currently being implemented to nearly double the project's existing power generation capacity by adding approximately 83 megawatts. The generated electricity will be marketed to Indonesian national power company (PT PLN (Persero)) until 2052. As part of this expansion plan, construction is scheduled to commence in March 2025, and commercial operations are targeted to start by 2027.
